Summer 2021
The Inspiration: The spirit of collaborative creativity
Summer 2021 is about the spirit of collaborative creativity. Although our design team wasn't physically together, from afar we poured ourselves into building a very personal and expressive story.
Our process started by painting, dyeing fabrics, sketching and sharing what we hoped next summer would feel like. Our instincts led us to create a story of feeling free, light, creative and powerful. Prints became loose-handed, uncomposed, abstract and bold. Our color palette surprises, energizes and comforts. Scuba blue, sunset pinks and golden craspedia pop next to aloe, natural alabasters and crisp whites. We sought out a freedom of color and print within the boundaries of clean and modern shapes.
Column shaped t-shirt dresses are painted with oversized loose paradise florals. Sport tanks are worn under pigment dyed poplin sundresses, linen jumpsuits over shrunken baby tees, cotton shirt dresses worn open over canvas striped shorts. Necklines are softly gathered, sleeves are pintucked and balloon shaped, swingy, elastic waist circle skirts are paired with body skimming knitwear. Silhouettes balance art and sport.
It is about polished play - we want to feel energized and alive, feminine and strong and most importantly next summer celebrate our independent spirit.
This season’s unprecedented challenges encouraged us to think about collection development more creatively, through a new lens. The pieces in the collection are designed to spark that same vibrancy and creativity, and are intended to make you feel like yourself again. The colors are inspired by cosmetics in bold shades of Rouge and Bougainvillea, while silhouettes play with clean volumes and ease. Sleeves are accentuated with ruching and draped details. Dresses and skirts feature soft bubble volumes and strapless tops have punchy peplums.
This collection celebrates a feeling of youthful exuberance. Hand-painted polka dots are printed in Opal Pink on technical duchesse satin, and a graphic beauty print featuring handpainted makeup-inspired motifs has an elevated sense of humor. Washed denim is dressed up with velvet trim and oversized crystal buttons. Flourishes of sunburst pleated lamé and exaggerated bows add a touch of fantasy. Casual elements such as graphic varsity sweaters and printed loungewear complete the holiday wardrobe.
