Associate Manager of Events at Vogue, Conçetta Ciarlo takes us around Vogue headquarters and chats with us about travel, the importance of making genuine connections, and what makes a good party.
Building a community has been vital to longevity for me! Making genuine (and yes, I mean genuine: not networking) friendships with colleagues and fellow people in the industry has been everything—my friends are the people who uplift me, my sounding boards for ideas, and even a helping hand in dire moments of stress.
Secondly, abandoning self-doubt—every new challenge and experience is scary until it becomes second nature.
I don't often travel for Paris Fashion Week unless there's a big event—when I'm not home in New York, I'm frequently in London. I love seeing a return to 90's aesthetics in fashion—I prefer the decade's moodier, brooding, grungier side.
Every time I add another Met Gala to my list of accomplished events is a pinch-me moment for me.
We can all become guilty of forgetting how far we've come. It may sound terribly cliché, but I try to remember the teenage version of myself (who had no access or connections to the fashion industry)—she'd be absolutely gagged and proud to know what I'm up to now.
It's all in the details that curate the atmosphere: think about the music and decorative elements like florals. I pay attention to the same elements in my personal life (I just threw a brat-themed birthday party).
I adore dinner at LouLou. You can't beat the gorgeous setting and delicious rigatoni! Otherwise, I'm usually wandering the city and vintage shopping.
I'm always drawn to a beautiful, deep shade of green. Ironically, my personality results on my favorite app, Dimensional¹, showed green as my color, representing my nature of curiosity, abstract ideas, and seeking truth and understanding.
